We feel incredibly lucky to have had the support and guidance of Patricia from Peach Perfect Wedding Planning. Planning a wedding from Australia could have been overwhelming, but Patricia made every step feel effortless. We initially set out to elope in Portugal, and what began as a simple elopement beautifully transformed into a 35-person micro-wedding. Patricia was absolutely fantastic in helping us plan our ceremony at the stunning Nossa Senhora da Rocha Chapel. She exceeded every expectation we had. Throughout the entire process, she was responsive, reassuring, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. She handled all the vendor bookings seamlessly and guided us through the run sheet so we could enjoy our day without stress. Thank you so much, Patricia, and thank you to the whole team of incredible vendors—we still cannot believe how magical everything was. We would recommend Patricia to any couple thinking of eloping or planning a destination wedding. Just do it! ✨💛

Jordan & Stuart's elopement in Portugal

A little over thirty guests. One stunning clifftop. Two loving people from Australia ready to say their vows overlooking the Atlantic, with their favorite people in attendance.

On August 20, 2025, Jordan and Stuart flew all the way from the other side of the world and brought with them their closest loved ones to Algarve for a destination wedding in Portugal. We loved accompanying them on this day that perfectly balanced adventure and intimacy at the seaside chapel Nossa Senhora da Rocha.

It was a genuine pleasure to be a part of Jordan & Stuart's journey, and we are happy to share a little insight into their day.

The venue: A chapel perched above the ocean

On the coastline of the Algarve, a small white chapel stands perched above the Atlantic. If you walk to the very tip of the promontory, you will see the waves of the ocean beat against the steep cliffside below.

The Nossa Senhora Rocha, Our Lady of the Rock, is enclosed in a small fort with mysterious history. Its location marks it as a place of importance but there is no local mention of the structure until the 13th century, even though it is believed to be much older than that. The white chapel likely has its origins in the 3rd or 4th century and has been lovingly kept over the centuries.

Jordan and Stuart chose this spot among our list of wedding venues in Portugal because it offered everything they wanted: dramatic natural beauty, a perfect coastal elopement setting on the clifftops, and a destination to be explored.

Getting ready with friends and family

At ten in the morning, with the sun already warming the clifftops and the Atlantic stretching endlessly behind them, Jordan and Stuart exchanged vows.

A little over thirty guests who'd flown across the world stood witness as the couple made their promises with panoramic coastline views framing every moment.

Despite the early start of hair & makeup styling, Jordan had a light and fun morning with her girls - family and friends - who made her feel at ease while prepping up for her special day. Less than ten loved ones in the room plus her friendly hair and makeup artist effortlessly removed the tension of wedding preparations.

On the other side of the villa was her groom, Stuart, who was also joined by friends and family as he prepared for the ceremony. His version of removing the tension of wedding preps was drinking a glass of wine and a cigar with the groom's team under the warm Algarve sun.

The relaxed atmosphere set the perfect tone for the day ahead.

A late morning ceremony by the Atlantic

Later that morning, the group all headed to the ceremony area - a cliffside outdoor spot where the land meets the sea.

The walk from the villa to the ceremony location built anticipation, with each step bringing them closer to the moment they'd been planning for months.

Morning ceremonies offer something special - softer light, cooler temperatures, and the feeling of having the entire day ahead to celebrate. The ceremony was intimate and heartfelt, with the sound of waves providing the only soundtrack needed. Just natural acoustics and the rhythmic crash of Atlantic waves against ancient cliffs.

This is what happens when you strip away unnecessary formality and focus on what matters: two people, their closest loved ones, and a setting so perfect for an elopement in Portugal, it needs only minimal decoration. The natural beauty of the Algarve provided everything the ceremony required.

Eloping in Algarve during the summer season

August in Portugal delivers exactly what destination wedding couples hope for - generous sunlight, warm breezes, and that golden Mediterranean light that makes everything glow. Jordan and Stuart's wedding photos speak for themselves! The weather cooperated beautifully, providing ideal conditions from morning preparations through the evening celebration.

It was a great season to get married in Portugal - perfect weather without summer's peak crowds. Every vendor, every timeline detail, every backup plan was managed locally by people who know the Algarve intimately.

From our dedicated planner who is based in Portugal, to all the Portuguese vendors that she recommended for Jordan and Stuart's wedding - everyone worked together to make this day just as our couple envisioned.

Capturing history and coastline

After the ceremony, Jordan and Stuart embarked on an extended photo session that showcased the best of the Algarve.

The pristine Nossa Senhora da Rocha housed centuries of history inside its quiet walls. It bore witness to the changing times while staying strong against the ocean waves right next to its outer fortress. If only walls could talk, the stories they would tell of countless lives, prayers, and moments that unfolded within that sacred space.

Over the centuries, the cliff on which the chapel is perched has grown smaller and smaller under the unceasing influence of the Atlantic waves. A few centuries down the line, it might no longer exist.

The photo session never felt rushed. With several hours dedicated to capturing their day, Jordan and Stuart could move at their own pace, exploring different locations without the pressure of keeping to a tight schedule.

Celebrating a micro wedding reception with their people

Our couple envisioned a laid-back reception akin to a beach day with friends. Guest should be able to enjoy the sun, go for a swim, explore the beaches, and have a great time without hurry.

The afternoon and evening unfolded naturally, with conversations flowing easily and a genuine connection happening throughout. After spending some time capturing memories, Jordan and Stuart reunited with their guests.

Everyone present had made the journey from Australia to Portugal, and that shared adventure became part of the celebration itself. Bringing several people to a different continent can sound daunting, but when you have the right vendors on your team, everything will work out fine.

Raw beach setting and dramatic coastline

The crystal-clear waters stay protected from wind thanks to the surrounding cliffs, making it perfect for couples who want both dramatic landscapes and comfortable conditions. You can walk along the shore unbothered by the wind for your photoshoot, feeling the sand between your toes while the cliffs shelter you from harsh coastal breezes.

What makes this location particularly special is its dual nature. From above, you get sweeping panoramic views that make for stunning elopement ceremony backdrops. From below, you experience the intimate beauty of hidden beaches and rock formations that have been shaped by centuries of Atlantic waves.

Jordan and Stuart wanted both perspectives, and this venue delivered without compromise. We know that many couples have the same vision as Jordan and Stuart - a raw beach setting that highlights Portugal’s beautiful coast.

That’s why our local planner worked her way to creating all-inclusive wedding packages in Portugal that feature this clifftop spot as the ceremony venue.

Planning an Algarve elopement from Australia

Coordinating a destination wedding across continents can sound overwhelming, but Patricia, our wedding planner in Portugal and a recent bride herself, made it her mission to make the experience seamless for her couple.

Patricia managed everything from vendor communication to timeline coordination, ensuring every detail aligned perfectly. She arranged transportation for the entire group, coordinated with the hair and makeup team for morning preparations, and made sure the ceremony space was set up exactly as Jordan and Stuart envisioned. When you're planning from the other side of the world, having someone on the ground who knows the local area intimately makes all the difference.

Worth the flight from Australia? Every single mile. This is what destination weddings create - new adventures, new memories with the people you love most.
