About this venue
Highlights
Almiral de la Font is a fortified Catalan masia set high in the Penedes wine region near Barcelona. It blends centuries of history with genuine modern comfort, across 340 acres of working vineyards and olive groves. You can take over the whole estate, sleep your guests on-site, and party with no curfew. That mix of seclusion, space, and amenities makes it one of our favorite places to get married in Spain for a weekend-long celebration.
Style
The house is a beautifully restored masia, the traditional farmhouse of the Catalan countryside. It's recognized as one of the best examples of the region's "basilica" building style. Renovation kept the original character intact, including the old wine presses and the bodega, while adding the comforts you'd expect today. Stone walls, vaulted spaces, and lookout points sit alongside a home cinema and heated pool. The feel is historic and grounded, never stuffy or showy.
History
Parts of the house date to before 1570, and the Almirall family extended it in 1805. They lived here for close to 200 years, and the estate still hides lookout points and old hiding places from that era. The name roughly means "admiral of the spring," tying the family to the water source on the land. For couples who love a venue with real roots, the layers of Catalan history here are easy to feel.
Location
The masia sits on a hillside in the Penedes wine country, near Sant Pere de Ribes. The Garraf National Park wraps around it, so the views run across forest, vineyards, and out to the sea. The beaches and nightlife of Sitges are about 10 minutes away by car. Barcelona and its airport are 30 to 35 minutes off, which keeps travel simple for guests flying in. It's a genuinely convenient base for getting married in Spain.
Surroundings
Beyond the gates, this corner of Catalonia gives your guests plenty to do between wedding events. Sitges is a lively seaside town with a long sandy beach, restaurants, and a famous nightlife scene. Barcelona's Gaudi architecture and museums make an easy day out. Closer to home, the surrounding cava country invites tastings at the cellars that buy this estate's own grapes. Tarragona and Port Aventura are about 45 minutes away for families.
Accommodation
The main house holds 13 bedrooms, a mix of twin and double rooms plus three larger suites. It sleeps up to 28, and an adjacent cottage adds beds for another 4 to 5 guests. That's room for around 33 people to stay together, so close family wakes up on-site. After the party winds down, nobody needs a taxi or a drive back to a hotel. See how it fits our all-inclusive Spain wedding packages.
Ceremony
You can say your vows in a clearing among the vines, framed by olive groves and fruit trees. It suits just the two of you or a small group. The outdoor patio seats up to 120 for a larger sunny ceremony. A marquee covers you if rain threatens. For something intimate, the outdoor lounge fits 10 to 20 guests, and an indoor hall seats up to 75. Tell our planner in Spain your vision and she'll match the spot.
Reception
After the ceremony, guests can gather at the tree house and two viewing platforms for drinks and snacks. The Moroccan-style outdoor lounge makes a relaxed cocktail spot with views over the estate. The main patio seats up to 120 banquet-style, though we often arrange it for around 60 so smaller groups feel the space. Best of all, the estate has no time restriction. Like most Spanish weddings, you can dance until the sun comes up.
Catering
The house has a fully equipped modern kitchen, and you can bring in an on-site chef for the celebration. That flexibility lets your menu lean into local Catalan produce, much of it grown on the estate itself. Think olives, almonds, cherries, walnuts, and fruit from the surrounding groves. The land's vineyards supply major cava houses, so sparkling Penedes wine is a natural fit for toasts. We'll help you shape a menu that suits your group and the season.
Facilities
There's plenty to fill the days around the wedding. The 20-meter solar-heated infinity pool looks straight out over the vineyards, with a separate children's pool alongside. Couples can unwind in the jacuzzi, which fits up to 10, or the sauna after the big day. Indoors, you'll find a home cinema, a gym, and a games room with snooker, billiards, and table tennis. The Moroccan chill-out lounge is the spot for lazy afternoons.
Kids
Families travel well here, since the estate keeps younger guests happily busy. There's a dedicated children's pool beside the main one, plus a trampoline and a children's playroom indoors. The wide grounds give kids space to roam safely, well away from roads. With everyone sleeping on-site, parents can join the late party knowing little ones are just upstairs. It's an easy choice for couples bringing the whole family to Spain.
