About this venue
Highlights
If you are considering a destination wedding in Switzerland for fairytale and adventure experiences wrapped in one, this romantic castle located along Lake Thun could be the perfect venue for you.
Sitting right in front of three Swiss mountains and a lake, it guarantees astounding views throughout your celebration. Check out everything you need to know about this lakeside castle for Swiss destination weddings.
History
The castle was constructed from 1846 to 1854 as a private summer residence of the Rougemont family. It became a listed building because of its unique combination of architectural designs. Just recently, in 2017 to 2019, the castle owners had it renovated to install nine hotel rooms with a historic chic vibe and many additional function rooms for special events.
Ceremony
You have indoor and outdoor options for your wedding ceremony here in the castle. Symbolic weddings with up to 70 guests can be celebrated in the spacious castle lawn, offering lake and mountain views for your enjoyment. There is no better spot to say your I dos than outside the castle with the region’s alpine beauty in the background.
The park is a public place that’s why we advise that you pick a low-peak season for your wedding day to avoid onlookers and tourists walking along the area. It cannot be reserved privately for any special event.
Should the weather fail to cooperate, your whole wedding party will be relocated to a room in the castle reserved as a backup in case it rains.
You can also opt to get married in one or both the two lounges located at the first floor of the castle. These smaller lounges are perfect for intimate weddings as they can accommodate only up to 16 people, combined. Although the rooms are inside the castle, both of them offer beautiful views of the lake.
If you prefer a religious ceremony for your wedding in Switzerland, you can tie the knot in a historic church near the castle that accommodates up to 140 guests. It guarantees a solemn and historic vibe as it is believed to have been in existence since the year 762.
Reception
After the ceremony, you can bring your guests to the castle’s function room that is very popular for wedding receptions. This reception room is ideal for small groups of up to 70 people. The seating arrangement at long tables can fit up to 70 whilst 50 people can comfortably fit if seated in round tables.
The venue also offers a smaller salon next to the reception room for dancing or a dessert buffet. Please take note that all wedding receptions must be celebrated indoors because it’s not possible to have dinner in the park or on the terrace.
Accommodation
With a total of nine rooms, small groups can stay in the castle for a comfortable sleep inside its double rooms and suites made for the royalty.
The sizes of the rooms range from 18 to 46 square meters with the tower suites being the most spacious of all. They both offer a unique view of Lake Thun, each with two balconies. All castle rooms have free WiFi to keep you connected, TV, radio, shower/toilet, and many other amenities for a comfortable stay.
As you can see, you don’t need to leave the castle from the start of your wedding preparations to the night of your big day. This special Swiss venue has everything that you will need for a beautiful wedding in Switzerland. If you think this is the perfect place for your dream wedding, get in touch with us and start planning your big day.
