About this venue

Highlights

Mongibello reimagines 1960s and '70s dolce vita on Ibiza's east coast, right down to the vintage Alfa Romeo Spider parked at the entrance. The hotel opened in 2023 inside a fully reimagined former Don Carlos hotel, with 32 individually themed suites named after cultural figures who shaped Ibiza's golden era. Weddings can move between a beachfront garden ceremony, a hidden retro nightclub for the after-party, and 167 sea-view rooms for guests staying the whole weekend. It's a distinctive option among packages for destination weddings in Spain for couples who want personality as much as a view.

History

The building started life as the Don Carlos hotel before Concept Hotel Group reimagined it completely, reopening as Mongibello in July 2023. The name and theme borrow from Patricia Highsmith's "The Talented Mr Ripley" - Mongibello is the fictional Amalfi Coast town where the novel is set - transplanted to Ibiza's own coastline. It's a young venue by island standards, but one with undeniably character.

Style

Every corner leans into the theme: a 70s jukebox in the lobby, a Baroque-style fountain topped with a Moor's head, custom mirrors, and a lemon cart doing the rounds by the pool. The 32 named suites each nod to a figure from Ibiza's golden age, from filmmaker Ángela Molina to designer Charo Ruiz.

Location

Mongibello sits directly on the beach in Santa Eulalia, on Ibiza's quieter east coast, a good distance from the island's clubbing strip in the west. Guests can walk straight from their room to the sand. It's close enough to Ibiza Town and the airport for day trips and easy arrivals, while keeping the wedding itself away from the loudest part of the island - one of the distinctive options we point to for where to get married in Spain.

Ceremony

Il Giardinetto, the hotel's garden space, handles the biggest ceremonies - up to around 130 guests seated, with sea views as a backdrop. Couples after something smaller can marry at the poolside Gazebo instead, timed for sunset and framed by open water on two sides.

Reception

Reception space scales with the guest list: La Piazzetta seats around 70 for a cocktail-style dinner, El Salón handles up to 60 seated in a more contained room, and Sorella Ristorante's terrace can host a full sit-down dinner for 80 or cocktails for closer to 200. That range means a small elopement and a 130-guest celebration both get a room that actually fits - a flexibility that matters a lot for destination weddings across Spain we help plan on the islands.

Entertainment

Once dinner wraps, the party can move into Lola's, a stylish club built into the hotel and modeled on Ibiza's own 70s and 80s nightlife - low lighting, vintage sound, and room for the last 50 guests still dancing. It's a different kind of after-party space from a marquee or hotel ballroom, closer to an actual nightclub, and it means the night doesn't have to end when the tables get cleared.

Accommodation

The hotel holds 167 rooms in total, including the 32 named suites, and every room has a sea view with most opening onto a balcony or terrace. That's enough to house a sizeable wedding party on-site without anyone needing a taxi back after the last dance. Families traveling with teenagers are welcome too - Mongibello allows guests aged 11 and up, rather than running as a strictly adults-only hotel.

Catering

Menus lean on fresh, seasonal produce and Mediterranean classics with an Italian accent, matching the hotel's overall theme rather than sitting apart from it. Couples can shape the menu around their budget and preferences, from a relaxed cocktail-style spread to a full multi-course dinner on Sorella Ristorante's terrace. Our wedding coordinator in Spain will help you create your perfect menu.
