About this venue
Highlights
Located in a simple village in Girona, this 15th-century castle at the heart of Empordà, with beautiful courtyards, vibrant gardens, and outdoor terraces for romantic celebrations is complete with everything that you will need for a perfect destination wedding in Spain.
Being located in a Spanish region with a privileged geographical location, it has a temperate climate that you can enjoy all year round. The airport is just nearby and Barcelona is accessible from the venue, making it a great point to start your honeymoon tour in various Spanish attractions.
History
Inside the walls of this castle are hundreds of years of history from the 15th-century. Being in existence for many years, it has been listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest. Only one family has kept the ownership of the castle all these years as a preservation of their family tradition.
While keeping its historic features intact, the owners made renovations on the property in the 17th- and 21st-century, and finally decided to open the castle to religious and civil ceremonies in 2016 to give others the chance to appreciate its beauty.
Ceremony
You can celebrate indoors or outdoors with flexible spaces to accommodate big and small celebrations. The event rooms are surrounded by hundred-year-old frescoes, ceilings, and walls that will create a royal and historic ambiance for your ceremony. Outdoor ceremony spots are equally stunning but more airy and spacious, surrounded by trees and the nature-filled landscapes of Empordà. You can tie the knot with your small group under a relaxing tree outdoors or in the courtyard with the facade of the historic building in the background. The castle’s courtyard is one of the most exclusive spaces in the venue located right in front of the castle with views to the gardens.
There’s also a spacious French garden where bigger groups can gather for the ceremony. The garden is filled with paths inspired by contemporary English exterior architecture.
Reception
Right after the ceremony, you and your guests can proceed to another courtyard that is best suited for wedding receptions. Here, you can have an outdoor dinner surrounded by beautiful and well-preserved architectural arches and stones while enjoying the views of the main gardens.
The courtyard is the best place for banquets as it can fit up to 250 diners, and it has both indoor and outdoor spaces for all kinds of celebrations. The courtyard connects to the kitchen and full catering area of the castle, making it very convenient to have a wedding reception.
However, an intimate wedding dinner with less than ten people is best celebrated at the indoor dining room of the castle where you can expect nothing less than royalty and elegance.
Accommodation
Although the venue does not offer overnight stays, they partnered with a nearby iconic hotel just a few kilometers away where the castle’s guests can stay.
This 5-star hotel sits in the middle of a Catalan farmhouse surrounded by gardens and nature views. With a total of 39 suites, it can definitely fit you and your guests if you are bringing only a small group for your intimate wedding in Spain.
Take note that the castle has indoor spaces where the couple can get ready for their wedding day.
