I specialize in organizing the following types of celebrations. ### Elopements Typically 2-12 people: The ultimate in small weddings — just you two pledging your love to each other with no other or very few guests. This is just a taster of what the country has to offer. ### The Lisbon area Portugal’s capital city is a gorgeous venue in its own right, or there are some lovely towns within easy reach such as Cascais and Alenquer. ### The Douro Valley Perfect if you love wine! The Douro Valley features extensive vineyards on the banks of the winding Douro River, alongside pretty towns such as Lamego, Bitetos, and Portugal’s second city Porto. ### The Algarve A popular tourism destination full of sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages. If you're a sun worshiper, head south to the Algarve – it has more sunshine than California! ### Tourists May to October is peak tourism season, while February to early March is also busy with carnival celebrations. A date out of these times means fewer tourists sharing your trip! ### Budget The low season months of November to March are when you'll enjoy much cheaper accommodation, flights, and venues. The downside is that the weather won't be as sunny! ### Guest list Got a lot of friends and family who you'd like to invite to your wedding? Opting for a wedding outside of the peak tourism season will help their accommodation and travel budget. ## Portuguese wedding ceremonies There are three ways you can say your vows in Portugal. Whichever one is the best for you, I'll be on hand to help you organize every element, including any legalities and translators. ### Civil You can have a civil wedding in any venue you want — even on the beach! Just apply to the registrar office, then book a registrar for the ceremony. The ceremony will be in Portuguese, but I can organize a translator so you know what you’re vowing! ### Religious A Catholic wedding in Portugal is legally binding — just get approval from a local priest and get married within three months. The ceremony is in Portuguese, but I can book you a translator. If you want another type of religious ceremony, you’ll need to have a civil wedding first to make it legal. ### Symbolic The most popular option for a destination wedding. Have your legal ceremony in your home country, then enjoy a beautiful symbolic ceremony in Portugal with a celebrant.
