Whatever your reason for choosing to plan a wedding in Ireland, there’s a location to match – here are just a few for inspiration. ### County Cork With the cosmopolitan city of Cork at its heart, Ireland’s largest county is where you’ll find colourful fishing villages, lushly green hills and valleys, mountain passes, windswept beaches, and a very warm welcome. ### The Cliffs of Moher Found in County Clare in the west of Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher offer panoramic views across the Atlantic Ocean and out to the Aran Islands. If you’d love an outdoor ceremony, opt for late April or May for the best chance of sunshine. And, of course, 17th March is St Patrick’s Day! ### Summer In the summer months of June to mid September you can enjoy an average temperature of 60-65°F (16-18°C), and you may even be lucky to get some super sunny days in the low 70s °F. Daylight lasts until around 10pm in midsummer – perfect for those golden hour photoshoots. ### Autumn Late September and October are beautiful months for weddings. It’s still warm, the leaves are turning, and there’s this dreamy aesthetic and vibe that’s unique to the season. There are also fewer tourists and local vacationers, so you can enjoy off-peak rates for venues and hotels. ### Winter The ideal time of year to get married in an historical venue in front of a roaring log fire! But you can also wrap up warm to get some atmospheric al fresco photos. December is busy with Christmas activities, but January and February are the cheapest months for wedding venues and vendors. ## Irish wedding ceremonies There are four types of wedding ceremonies you can have in Ireland. All legally binding ceremonies require you to obtain a Marriage Registration Form at least three months before. ### Civil Performed by a registrar, this ceremony is at a register office or licensed wedding venue. Civil ceremonies follow a specific format and cannot include any religious or spiritual elements. ### Secular Secular ceremonies, such as humanist or Celtic, are legally binding when performed by a registered secular solemnizer. These can take place in any location. ### Religious Ireland recognizes any wedding ceremony performed by registered solemnizers nominated by their religious body, which are usually held in the place of worship. ### Symbolic Have the legal ceremony in your home country and then opt for a symbolic ceremony in Ireland.
