That's the whole idea. Seaventy charters boats on the Tagus for weddings. That runs from ten of you on a sailing catamaran to a few hundred on the big river ships. Guests board at a quay in Alcântara and head out under the 25 de Abril bridge. The view keeps changing all evening. Dinner is served in the saloon, and nobody leaves early. ### Style Two very different kinds of boat, one river. The sailing catamarans are bright and modern. Teak decks, an open flybridge, a glass-walled saloon, and a shaded lounge with low sofas. The older river ships are the opposite, all varnished timber, paneled ceilings and tall windows down both sides. Couples have leaned into the Portuguese detail here, azulejo tiles as place cards and pressed glass in cobalt or blush. Nothing needs draping. The water does most of the decorating. ### Location You board in Alcântara, Lisbon's old dock quarter, right under the 25 de Abril bridge. Lisbon airport is about 13 kilometers away, twenty minutes by taxi. Guests flying in that morning still make it. Praça do Comércio sits around six kilometers upriver. You pass the Torre de Belém and slip under the bridge. The Cristo Rei stands over Almada on the far bank. Container cranes and working wharves line the north shore, which sounds unpromising and photographs beautifully at golden hour. Four hours is the usual charter, long enough to run down to Oeiras and back. Most of what a first-time visitor wants to see in Lisbon is visible from the water. ### Transport Alcântara-Mar station is about a ten-minute walk from the docks, on the Cais do Sodré to Cascais line. Taxis and rideshares drop right at the gate, and there's a paid open-air car park beside the pontoons. Boarding is the one part of the day with a hard deadline. Then they meet your guests dockside and walk them aboard. ### Accessibility Tell us early if a guest needs step-free access. You reach every boat down a floating pontoon and across a short gangway, and most have steps between the decks. The Évora is listed as wheelchair accessible on its public cruises, so it's the one to ask about. There are bathrooms on every boat, three of them on the catamaran. The gangway angle shifts with the tide, and the crew is used to giving people a hand. ### Ceremony The ceremonies we run here are symbolic, led by a celebrant we bring aboard. Most couples say their vows on the foredeck, with the mast behind them and the city behind that. There's a microphone and a sound system, so the words carry over the wind. Greenery goes up along the rails on the morning of the wedding, and guests throw bubbles rather than confetti. On the catamaran that's one long table for around thirty, laid down the middle of the glass-walled saloon. The bigger ships lay round tables instead, with cream chiavari chairs. A service bar sits at one end and a buffet counter at the other. Land Ahoy carries up to 130 standing and seats 30 at table. The Évora takes 240. We pick the boat around your numbers rather than the other way round. ### Catering Seaventy cooks aboard, in a galley on the boat itself, so the kitchen travels with you. You pick one menu for the whole group, either three plated courses or a buffet. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free versions run right through the card, and dietary needs are flagged when you choose. Children under five are charged at half. Expect Portuguese cooking: bacalhau confit, sea bass, arroz doce, and pastries with the coffee. Seated menus are quoted from twenty guests and buffets from thirty. ### Drinks An open bar comes with every event here. Packages step up from wine, beer and soft drinks to spirits, priced per person for the first three hours. Each boat has a proper bar, and the catamaran has a draught tap. ### Entertainment There are no neighbors on a river, which is the practical reason people book boats. Music runs as loud and as late as your charter does. A DJ sets up on the top deck, and live musicians work here too. Dancing happens out on deck, under the bridge lights, rather than in a function room. Extra hours are sold by the hour, so a party going well can simply keep going. ### Exclusivity You charter the whole boat, so nobody else is aboard. Bring a wrap for the ceremony and tell your guests to do the same. Every boat has an enclosed saloon to move into, which is why weddings run here through the winter too.
