Location

The highlight of this elopement venue is its proximity to the Adare village. Adare was recently recognized as one of Ireland's most beautiful towns because of the colourful thatched roof cottages scattered along its streets. It’s also near the scenic Cliffs of Moher and the Wild Atlantic Way, each is a perfect backdrop to dream elopement in Ireland.

Your wedding at Fanningstown Castle

Privacy

Privacy is the priority in this venue. It’s an intimate wedding castle Ireland offers as available for exclusive hire. Yes, you can rent the whole place exclusively for your wedding to maximize the whole place all to yourself.

Accommodation

As for the accommodation, this small wedding castle in Ireland has 5 individually-designed bedrooms that sleep up to 10 persons. So if you’re bringing your immediate family with you, the rooms would be enough for all of them.

But if you’re hosting a bigger crowd, you can book rooms in the nearby hotels and lodging houses such as the Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel, the Berkeley Lodge, or the Hillcrest Country Home. They’re all just a few minutes away from the castle.

Take note that this wedding castle in Ireland generally offers one whole week of accommodation for all types of bookings. If you wish to hire the castle for less than a week, you have to ask for approval from the owners and it should not be less than 3 days.

Activities

Maximize your stay in the dreamy Irish landscape by visiting historic medieval buildings and museums as well as outdoor attractions for your honeymoon. Some of the most popular natural wonders here are the Ring of Kerry, the Wild Atlantic Way, the Cliffs of Moher, the Connemara National Park, and The Burren.

The owners of this castle wedding venue offers an add-on tour to certain outdoor attractions, along with other activities such as private fishing, horse riding, golfing, and archery.

Facilities

What we love so much about this intimate wedding venue in Adare is its perfect mix of modernity, class, and historic elements. As you enter the rooms and function areas here, you’ll feel the ambience of Irish tradition with a youthful twist.

The owner of the castle describes it as a perfect getaway for families and groups because it also has a library where you and your loved ones can spend some time to read and relax.

Reception

After the ceremony, don’t look any further for a place to hold a feast. This exclusive castle for weddings in Ireland has dining areas where small groups can have a lovely dinner.

Indoor: The majestic dining room situated at the heart of the castle is a great choice for a simple dinner after the ceremony. It’s befitting for any banquet with its warm colors that provide a beautiful setting for an intimate dinner of up to 10 people.

The castle’s personal chef can serve delicious meals for your intimate reception dinner or prepare all your meals for the rest of your stay, both at an added cost. They can also take up to 20 guests for a buffet meal or barbecue. This is a perfect option if you're having a small wedding in Ireland

But if your friends and family members are kind enough, they can prepare the meals for your mini reception in the castle’s kitchen, which is complete with all the cooking essentials they might need.

Outdoor: If you get married on the summer months, you can enjoy wonderful alfresco lunches at the castle's garden.

Beyond the castle: But if you're excited to explore more of Adare, take your reception outside the castle and on to one of the local pubs, fine dining restaurants, or café lunches around town that serve local Irish cuisines and international fusion food.

Ceremony

Being near the Cliffs of Moher means a lot of wonderful things, like getting the chance to have an elopement ceremony right at the edge of an Irish cliff. The Cliffs of Moher is one of our handpicked wedding venues in Ireland with the most dramatic views of the cliffs.

We highly suggest though that you elope in the Cliffs of Moher during the off-peak season, unless it’s okay with you to recite your vows with tourists watching.

Should you prefer a more private ceremony away from the prying eyes of tourists, this Irish wedding castle is a perfect choice. It has both indoor and outdoor spots for the ceremony.

Outdoor: You can have a romantic vow renewal in Ireland under a huge willow tree along the castle's garden with a romantic field backdrop.

Indoor: For a weather-proof ceremony, you can get married inside the castle with its classy interiors, antique furnishings, and centuries-old decorations.

Religious: If you prefer a religious ceremony, with the castle serving only as your home for the preparations and a honeymoon hideaway, you can get married in nearby churches, like the Holy Trinity Abbey (Roman Catholic), St. Nicholas Church of Ireland (Episcopal Church) and Adare Methodist Church.

History

This charming wedding castle in Adare has gone through centuries of changes from its first recorded existence in the late 13th century up to the 20th century when its ownership was finally passed on to the Normoyle family.

It was originally built as part of Ireland’s line of defence but after years of transformation, it has now turned into a gothic castle where some of the best castle weddings in Ireland happen.
