Highlights

If you’re a wine-loving couple who’s madly in love with traveling the world and seeing unique sites in faraway places, this amazing winery venue for elopements in Spain might interest you. It offers plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for your elopement ceremony and reception.

This rustic winery for weddings in Haro dates back to 1859. The traditional elements of the venue were carefully preserved to give you an authentic experience of Spanish wine history in the La Rioja region. The venue consists of the bodegas and the 120-hectare vineyard.

Location

The winery is located in the town of Haro that is very well connected to other major cities in the region like Vitoria, Bilbao, and Burgos. You can easily reach the venue through the Haro Railway Station, which is right in front of the winery. The nearest airport, Vitoria Airport, is 48 kilometers away.

History

Flying from the vineyard pests called grape phylloxera that destroyed French vineyards at that time, Savignon Frères & Cie set up the winery in Haro sometime in 1859.

In 1901, some Bilbao businessmen purchased the business, and that started the long history of this Spanish winery for adventure weddings. In fact, this establishment has the longest winemaking history in the region of La Rioja. The oldest existing vines date back to 1971!

Ceremony

Three out of five indoor ceremony spaces of the venue have natural lighting. The bright and modern Sala Central with its original elements and comfortable modern features can accommodate 30-50 guests for a beautiful wedding with an authentic historic ambiance.

We recommend the venue’s wine house that accommodates 10-30 persons for a more intimate ceremony where you can feel the essence of the world of wine. The 2-storey space can be rented with its beautiful wine bar where you can taste the finest wines from the winery.

Another interesting spot in this winery for weddings in Spain is the ‘Marquesina’ that dates back to the 1960s. Originally, this is a space where wines were kept before being loaded into a truck for transportation. The old storage area was recently renovated to turn it into a cozy, modern, and bright room that can be customized according to your wedding style preference.

For the most unique wine-themed ceremony, you can say your vows inside the venue’s Barrel Room that fits 50 people to 100 people on a standing capacity. Imagine reciting your vows while being surrounded by hundreds of wine barrels! This is the most important room in the winery where the wines acquire their true character and taste.

There’s a more formal Board Room that fits 35-50 guests. Here, you can have a seated reception while taking in the historic vibe of the old winery with your most favorite people in the world.

We understand that some couples love an outdoor ceremony in a beautiful European town like Haro in Spain. Luckily, this unique wedding venue has a wide and well-maintained garden right in front of the old winery that seats up to 500 persons! Whether you’re marrying with only the two of you or you’re bringing a group of friends and family, you can have a beautiful outdoor ceremony right at this venue’s garden.

Reception

Have an intimate dining experience, old Spanish style, when you hold your reception in one of the venue’s dedicated reception areas. One of which is a spacious indoor space with wine-themed facilities where you will be surrounded by wine barrels inside a well-lit reception area!

The warm and traditional Dining Room that seats up to 40 persons is an excellent choice for an intimate reception of your destination wedding in Spain. This room of the winery is filled with elements that reveal the genuine personality of La Rioja. Aside from its historic walls and decorated grills, the Dining Room also features popular regional meals for your wedding party.

You may want to learn the winery’s history while having an intimate dinner after your elopement wedding ceremony. You can do that inside the museum that features the winery’s history and all stages of its winemaking process, including machinery, documents, tools, brandy aging casks, and cognac distillation equipment!
