Who says only princesses can have an astonishing castle wedding? You too can have that fairytale wedding that you’ve been dreaming of if you choose the Wilton castle for your destination elopement. This wedding venue in Ireland is a 13th century Celtic castle that was restored to its former beauty, with an amazing modern twist. It is located at the heart of the beautiful Irish landscape with a wooded parkland and a view of the heavily forested mountains.
The Wilton Castle sits in a historic region of County Wexford, east of Ireland. This side of the country offers breathtaking views of the sandy coastline and wide open lush green spaces. One can have a glimpse of the history of eastern Ireland by walking along Wexford’s heritage towns and historical villages with century-old castles, thatched cottages, and an ancient abbey. You can reach this venue after more or less an hour drive from the nearest Waterford Airport.
The most popular ceremony area in the castle is its right wing that remains to be a ruin to date. This part of the venue has not been restored, which seems to be on purpose because it serves as a unique and amazing spot for a legally binding wedding ceremony. The outdoor structure of the ruin remains but the inside is completely empty, making it a spacious spot for up to 50 guests sitting comfortably. As the ceremony unfolds, all of you can witness the beauty of the forested mountains and a wide open parkland in front.
Should you want a more religious ceremony in a church, you can get married at the St. Aidan's Cathedral, 7 kilometres from the Wilton Castle. Whether you choose to say your I do in the castle grounds or outside, you can hold the reception at Wilton’s indoor banquet hall. It’s a quaint space inside the castle with a dominant red brick interior and long tables of solid wood. You and your guests can enjoy an intimate dinner here while marvelling at the sight of the garden outside. For a fully seated wedding reception, the max that they can cater for is 115 guests. This seating arrangement would be with up a max of 85 seated the Alcock Suite and 30 guests seated in the Furlong Suite.
Rent the castle exclusively for your wedding day and even for the day after! Aside from the reception and ceremony areas, this wedding venue in Ireland is known for its delicately decorated suites that are far from being ancient. Why, each suite is complete with a fully functional kitchen, a flat-screen TV, a reliable WiFi connection, and an impressive bathroom with shower. The four suites are named after the four families who resided in the castle - the Butlers, the Alcocks, the Furlongs, and the Thornhills.
Fourteen guests can be accommodated in the Castle's seven double bedrooms, plus four additional guests on single fold-out & sofa-beds. That's a maximum of 18 guests in total. They also have three cribs/cots available for infants and toddlers. All the suites are artistically designed with beautiful wallpapers, rustic floorboards, and classy furniture. The Butler Suite on the first floor is a one-bedroom apartment where the couple can do the preps and spend the night after the wedding. The Thornhill Suite has a three bedroom apartment and a one-bedroom suite. The Alcock Suite and the Furlong Suite, both at the ground floor, have two bedrooms and one bedroom respectively. Your family and friends would love to spend the morning in the terrace of the Furlong Suite, watching the beauty of the parkland outside like a scene from a Disney movie.
