How do you feel about getting married in a medieval Italian villa that used to be a residence of an aristocratic family and later transformed into a charming relais? If you’re dreaming of a unique destination wedding in Italy, this fortified castle tucked in the Tuscan countryside is truly an excellent venue for you. Relais La Suvera is one of those Italian estates with an atmosphere of elegance and rich history. From its century-old gardens to the hotel interiors, there’s just too much magic within this luxury boutique wedding venue that will turn your small wedding in Italy into an elegant celebration of love.
Whether you dream of an outdoor garden wedding or a religious church ceremony, you can have either of them here. This former residence of an aristocratic family during the High Middle Ages has its own church that can comfortably seat up to 60 guests. Both traditional Catholic as well as symbolic wedding ceremonies can be celebrated on the grounds of Relais La Suvera. The church can be found just a few steps away from the hall.
If you want an outdoor ceremony with a view over Chianti hills and lush vineyards, the enchanting garden of this Tuscan relais is the perfect setting for your wedding. Any part of the relais' garden is an ideal place for small weddings of up to 30 guests. Take the reception to the terrace beside the pool where long tables can be set for a very intimate dinner.
This luxury wedding venue also has two signature restaurants on site: the Oliviera Restaurant, where breakfast and dinner are served, and the the Bar dei Limoni (Lemons' Bar) where guests can enjoy light lunches and informally classic dinners under the shade of the lemon trees.
La Suvera offers two types of accommodation: the Papal Villa, which is home to 12 most exclusive suites in the Relais, as well as the 24 tranquil rooms of the Farmhouse and Stables. Each room at the Papal Villa is dedicated to a historical character connected with the owner’s families, characters that come to life among the sumptuous furnishings. Here in this luxury wedding venue, you will also find the Maria Gabriella di Savoia Suite that is the most sought after by newly-weds for their honeymoon. Whilst a stay in the Farmhouse or Stables, most of which have a private garden or terrace, is a guarantee of absolute relaxation and regeneration in the shade of age-old trees and fragrant flowers.
On the first floor of the Papal Villa you will find the Museum which hosts a valuable collection of portraits, statues and furnishings coming from the owner’s noble families of Ricci and Massimo. This is an incredible indoor space for gala dinners for up to 90 guests. The Piazza in front of the Papal Villa (only available when taken in exclusive use) is the perfect setting for an alfresco dinner for a maximum of 100 persons. Whilst the Lemon or Belvedere Gardens offer stunning views over the valley at sunset for both intimate and larger groups.
