The Powerscourt House & Gardens forms part of the vast Powerscourt Estate, occupying 47 out of the estate's total 1000 acres of land. The house was originally built in the 13th century and then vastly remodeled in the 16th century to look as it does today.

This venue should not be confused with the nearby Powerscourt Hotel. Whilst the hotel manages events that take place at Powerscourt House and provide the catering service, the house must be rented separately for an additional fee. The house itself does not offer on-site accommodation, so most couples and their guest choose to stay at the Powerscourt Hotel which offers special room rates to wedding groups.

Powerscourt Gardens was voted number 3 in the World’s Top Ten Gardens by National Geographic. Some of the attractions of the gardens include The Walled Gardens, The Italian Garden, The Dolphin Pond, The Japanese Gardens, Pets Cemetery and the famous Pepperpot Tower. The gardens are also home to the famous ornate 'Bamberg Gate', a 240 year old gate that came from the Cathedral at Bamberg in Germany.

Today the Powerscourt House, which was first opened to the public in 1997, is a much sough-after wedding venue in Ireland due to it's splendor and close proximity to Dublin City. Weddings taking place at Powerscourt House can enjoy complete privacy of the gardens from 5pm onwards, when the house's opening hours end. In good weather conditions, wedding ceremonies can take place outside in front of the Bamberg Gate. Otherwise, the house's beautiful ground floor entry hall is used for indoor ceremonies.

The reception takes place in the stately upstairs ballroom, featuring marble columns and two-story high ceilings, which can accommodate up to 120 guests on round tables. The evening celebration can then continue in the Garden View Room which, as the name suggests, opens up it's windows onto the Powerscourt Gardens.
