Irish Castle Wedding – Shannon & Dino’s Destination Elopement
“My dream would be to have the ceremony at Hag’s Head and a small and simple Irish castle wedding reception.” This was Shannon’s request when she first contacted us. With a guest list of less than thirty people, we knew exactly which Irish castle would be the perfect place to make Shannon’s wedding dreams come true… Fanningstown Castle of course!
Shannon and Dino loved the idea of privatising the quaint little castle in the West of Ireland for their intimate destination wedding in Ireland. This Irish castle wedding venue has five bedrooms and was exactly the right size to accommodate their immediate families, whilst the rest of the guests stayed at the nearby Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel & Spa.
The plan for the wedding weekend was simple – to have as much fun as possible! Festivities began with a casual rehearsal dinner at Timmy Macs Bistro within the Woodlands Hotel. In the morning, Shannon and her girl squad, and Dino with his brother and Best Man, got ready at the iconic structure for their meaningful Irish castle wedding. As customary, the couple also exchanged gifts. Shannon gave her husband-to-be a stylish Shinola wrist watch, whilst Dino surprised her with a romantic message on a real tape recorder! It was awesome to see the laughter and tears in Shannon’s face as she listened to the message.
On the way to the scenic destination wedding location, Shannon rode a black and white vintage car. The ceremony took place in front of Moher Tower at Hag’s Head, the most southerly tip on The Cliffs of Moher. Shannon and Dino exchanged vows in front of twenty-five of their closest friends and family in a beautiful symbolic ceremony, which included a traditional Irish hand fasting. The guests were blown away by the amazing views of this destination wedding in Ireland. It was like nothing they have ever seen before.
Of course, the couple took all the chances they could get to pose against the panoramic view of the cliffs. They kissed, hugged, and walked along the narrow paths of the cliffs to make sure they have awesome wedding photos in an Irish destination spot.
The Irish castle wedding reception that followed after was equally unique and beautiful. Upon their return, the group enjoyed a hearty Irish meal catered by local chef Anne Lloyd and her team. They had a minimalist cake topped with simple florals that’s a perfect representation of their grand and intimate wedding in Ireland.
Of course, no destination wedding in Ireland would be complete without a pub crawl. And that’s exactly what they did afterwards! The couple gulped a glass of the popular Guinness beer and had their photos taken as they enjoyed the beverage.
Yana was the best! She truly made our wedding and experience with a destination wedding in Ireland so easy, memorable and perfect. Her suggestions and vendors were spot on and I never had to worry for a second on the day of. She was prompt and easy to get in contact with and made my wedding a delight.
