The history of this wedding castle in Bavaria all started with a wedding. In 1898 Baron Wilhelm von Faber’s eldest daughter Ottilie married Count Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, a son of an old aristocratic family. By the will of her grandfather, whichever of his grandchildren succeeded to his estate should carry on not just the company name but also the family name Faber. And so, the new name of counts von Faber-Castell was born.

Famous for its pencils and art supplies, the Faber-Castell family name is known all around the world. For many years the impressive 19th-century castle in Stein used to be the family’s private residence before becoming home to American soldiers, international journalists and intellectuals from all corners of the world.

Today the grounds of this wedding castle in Bavaria have opened their gates for visitors all year round and offer a selection of beautiful locations for your castle wedding or elopement in Germany. For larger groups and a bigger budget, you can rent the former conservatory with the adjacent garden and a cosy catholic chapel directly on site to celebrate your wedding. A more intimate wedding ceremony is possible in the castle garden or at one of its other estates nearby. For couples who are looking to get married in Germany with a beautiful outdoor ceremony, the family’s private forest cabin is a fitting wedding venue. The cosy wooden cottage is situated on the edge of a quiet clearing in the woods and offers you complete privacy for your outdoor wedding in Germany.

Even if you decide not to have your wedding ceremony directly at this wedding castle in Bavaria, you are still welcome to take your wedding photos there and have an important piece of German history as the backdrop to your photos. Just imagine a dreamy castle facade filled with fresh greeneries that naturally crawl on the walls of the structure.

The castle is situated very close to Nuremberg and you can reach other major cities in Bavaria such as Munich within a couple hours’ drive. This ideal location of Faber-Castell Castle makes it easy for couples to find a hotel for accommodation and a restaurant or bar for their wedding reception.
