Ballintoy Harbour – or “Port of Pyke on the Iron Islands” as it is known to Game of Thrones fans – is a small fishing Harbour on the north coast of County Antrim. Seemingly unimpressive at first sight, Ballintoy Harbour enjoys some of the most epic sunset views. Hold your elopement here and you’ll have a certified Game of Thrones wedding in the exact location where some of the series’ scenes were shot.

Game of Thrones aside, this wild beach on the other side of Ballintoy Harbour is a beautiful and serene place to exchange your wedding vows. The beach contains some interesting rock formations and you can easily walk to Ballintoy Village to share a celebratory pint after your ceremony. Speaking of walking atop rock formations, you are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes to maximize your elopement here. Nevertheless, you can wear a bohemian or any comfortable wedding gown that will allow you to find the best spot for your exchange of vows.

Be instantly transported back in time when you reach this secluded Game of Thrones wedding location. It seems to be unaffected by all the advancements taking place at the other side of the world. Preserved and maintained as one of the few remaining unadulterated sceneries worldwide, Ballintoy Harbour boasts of unparalleled privacy and unspoiled shores. There’s literally no unimpressive spot for wedding photos here.

You also have an alternative if you want a more solemn indoor ceremony. The humble white Ballintoy Parish church stands on the hill near the Harbour. You can have your short Catholic ceremony here before you explore the shores and coastline of this Game of Thrones wedding location.

In fact, you can wait a few more hours for the sunset so you can have more scenic after-ceremony wedding photos. Walk unto the edge of the harbour’s low-lying rock formations right next to the stunning body of water and let your photographer do his job. When you’re done with the photo shoot, you can head on to one of Ballintoy’s cafes and restaurants for a romantic dinner or an intimate reception if you’re bringing a group with you.
