About this venue
Location
The highlight of this elopement venue is its proximity to the Adare village. Adare was recently recognized as one of Ireland's most beautiful towns because of the colourful thatched roof cottages scattered along its streets. It’s also near the scenic Cliffs of Moher and the Wild Atlantic Way.
History
This charming wedding castle in Adare has gone through centuries of changes from its first recorded existence in the late 13th century up to the 20th century when its ownership was finally passed on to the Normoyle family.
It was originally built as part of Ireland’s line of defence but after years of transformation, it has now turned into a gothic castle where some of the best castle weddings in Ireland happen.
Ceremony
Being near the Cliffs of Moher means a lot of wonderful things, like getting the chance to have an elopement ceremony right at the edge of an Irish cliff. The Cliffs of Moher is one of the venues where our Irish wedding planner can arrange a wedding for you. We highly suggest though, that you elope in the Cliffs of Moher during the off-peak season, unless it’s okay with you to recite your vows with tourists watching.
Should you prefer a more private ceremony away from the prying eyes of tourists, this Irish wedding castle is a perfect choice. It has both indoor and outdoor spots for the ceremony.
Outdoor: You can say your vows under a huge willow tree along the castle's garden with a romantic field backdrop.
Indoor: For a weather-proof ceremony, you can get married inside the castle with its classy interiors, antique furnishings, and centuries-old decorations.
Religious: If you prefer a religious ceremony, with the castle serving only as your home for the preparations and a honeymoon hideaway, you can get married in nearby churches, like the Holy Trinity Abbey (Roman Catholic), St. Nicholas Church of Ireland (Episcopal Church) and Adare Methodist Church.
Reception
After the ceremony, don’t look any further for a place to hold a feast. This exclusive castle for weddings in Ireland has dining areas where small groups can have a lovely dinner.
Indoor: The majestic dining room situated at the heart of the castle is a great choice for a simple dinner after the ceremony. It’s befitting of any banquet with its warm colours that provide a beautiful setting for an intimate dinner of up to 10 people.
The castle’s personal chef can serve delicious meals for your intimate reception dinner or prepare all your meals for the rest of your stay, both at an added cost. They can also take up to 20 guests for a buffet meal or barbecue.
But if your friends and family members are kind enough, they can prepare the meals for your mini reception in the castle’s kitchen, which is complete with all the cooking essentials they might need.
Outdoor: If you get married on the summer months, you can enjoy wonderful alfresco lunches at the castle's garden.
Beyond the castle: But if you're excited to explore more of Adare, take your reception outside the castle and on to one of the local pubs, fine dining restaurants, or café lunches around town that serve local Irish cuisines and international fusion food.
