Story

Rain or shine, if you are getting married in an Irish castle full of character and history, your destination wedding in Ireland will surely be amazing. Their wedding planner, Ciara set Katie and Michael’s expectations about the unpredictable weather in Ireland early on, but the two were unfazed. They have long wanted a castle wedding in the Emerald Isle, and no weather could stop them from fulfilling that dream.

Planning their destination wedding in Ireland

Katie and Michael had been to Ireland before, and they knew in their hearts that there was no place for their once-in-a-lifetime event than in the surreal natural landscape of Ireland. They both live in the US, so they had to find a wedding planner who could plan everything on their behalf.

Ciara, our wedding planner in Ireland, was more than capable of being their eyes and ears throughout the planning process. She made sure everything was seamless for Katie and Michael’s big day and that they would see their vision coming true.

The two requested three locations for their wedding, and it was one of the challenges that their planner had to hurdle. The second was having a guest list of twenty persons needing accommodations before and after the wedding day. Nevertheless, Ciara was able to pull it off by helping them to create a perfect timeline that would allow Katie and Michael to get married in their dream Irish castle, have a photo shoot in a clifftop location they’ve been dying to visit, and arrive just in time to the Irish pub for the wedding reception.

Ciara also helped the couple book budget-friendly accommodations for the whole wedding party and the best suppliers who will make their dream wedding come true. It was not easy, but with the right network of wedding vendors and extensive experience in planning Irish destination weddings, everything is possible.

About the wedding venue

As mentioned, Katie and Michael had three venues for their wedding day - the 16th-century tower for the ceremony, the nearby cliffs for the photoshoot, and the traditional Irish pub for the wedding reception.

The medieval tower for the ceremony is one of the very few towers in Ireland with a unique cylindrical shape and probably the only one with an unusual pyramidical base. It looks narrow on the outside, but it can comfortably fit a whole group for an intimate wedding.

The photoshoot location was a natural scenery that many tourists visit for its sheer majestic beauty. There is no question that the cliffs serve as an amazing backdrop for any wedding photo.

Finally, the reception venue was a traditional Irish pub with special event rooms dedicated to this kind of occasion. The pub interiors are rustic and cozy, with wooden chairs and tables, magical string lights, and a dance floor. The staff decorated the event room according to the c

The romantic day that was

The couple and their guests stayed in one hotel for the wedding preparations. While Katie was getting dolled up for her groom, Michael was waiting in anticipation for their first look. Finally, his most awaited moment arrives, and the backdrop cannot be more perfect. As Katie walked slowly towards her groom, you could see the vast and lush green valley in the background dotted with a few houses.

After the exciting first look, the couple rode a vintage car to the ceremony venue. The tower never fails to amaze with its unique shape and medieval facade. Katie and Michael had a lovely ceremony with a harpist playing soft traditional Irish music in the background. It was nearly raining when the ceremony ended, but the couple proceeded to the cliffs for an epic photoshoot.

The after-ceremony photoshoot

It was already pouring when they arrived at the cliffs, but that did not stop them from posing, dancing, and celebrating their successful destination wedding. Imagine, they were only dreaming of this moment years ago, and now, they are finally living in it. They did not mind the rain because the cliffs and the views were still stunning even with that kind of weather.

They brought an umbrella at first but decided to throw it away and enjoy a romantic photoshoot under the rain instead. The photos were beautiful! After that, they traveled to the pub for a fun wedding reception with their loved ones.
