Nature elopement for two in an abbey amidst a forest in Clare
Story
There is something magical about autumn weddings in the deep forest of Ireland. It’s even more exciting when it’s an elopement for two with zero guests. That’s exactly what Katie and Jeremy envisioned and eventually experienced when they tied the knot in Ireland in the breathtaking county of Clare.
As genuine adventurers, Katie and Jeremy picked a historic abbey inside a forest in Ireland for their unique elopement. They had a non-religious and non-denominational humanist ceremony, which gave them more freedom of choice for the venue and day of the ceremony. Despite the absence of the usual elements of a traditional wedding, humanist ceremonies are recognized as legally binding in Ireland.
Katie and Jeremy’s choice of ceremony gave them the opportunity to be creative and authentic. Everything was free-flowing, without any strict requirements except that it was performed by a humanist ceremony officiant. Although it was not a traditional ceremony, their commitment included the “no impediments to marriage” and “I do” declarations.
The best part is, that they could marry in their favorite spot in Clare, which was an outdoor location oozing with history and nature! Katie arrived on a horse carriage and her aisle was the stone path leading to the abbey. The ceremony spot was truly enchanting, with cloisters that served as a unique backdrop for the couple’s celebration.
After saying their "I dos," Katie and Jeremy rode the carriage to the deep forest where their photographer perfectly captured the newlyweds framed in lush Irish nature. Towering trees, wide-open green spaces, and a lake were some of our favorite spots for Katie and Jeremy’s photoshoot!
