Classy red cape and horse carriage for an elopement in Kerry
Story
You don't need to do anything to make your big day special when you have this monastery ruin as your wedding venue. Beverley and Ryan knew this so well, and they intentionally picked this unique outdoor venue amidst the Irish woodland for their most awaited destination elopement in Ireland.
Planning their wedding in Ireland
Beverley and Ryan reached out to us months before their desired wedding date because they were clueless about how to make their dream Irish destination wedding possible. Although the main challenge was how to plan a wedding in Europe when they lived in the US, they also had concerns about bringing their US-based guests to Ireland. Despite these challenges, planning their wedding had been stress-free from day one.
A huge part of this was Beverley and Ryan's straightforward requests for their wedding day. They wanted a simple ceremony in the most unique and historic outdoor venue in Ireland, some specific requests on their wedding cake, and a memorable dinner with their eight special guests. Gladly, we recommended a monastery ruin at the heart of woodlands in the scenic County Kerry and they loved it!
About the wedding venue
Although the couple lived in the United States, they were willing to travel miles away from home for an extraordinary ceremony in a monastery ruin with a nearby cemetery in the scenic landscape of Kerry. The venue reflects Ireland's bittersweet history, with a monastery almost completely destroyed but has remained standing for the next generations to admire. The historic structure's pillars and walls that bore witness to the joys and tragedies of Ireland's past centuries resiliently stood against all attempts to destroy it.
Today, we can still see the tall window frames and beautiful cloisters of the monastery. Not only can enthusiasts visit the site, but couples who want a unique adventure for their big day can use the monastery ruin as a wedding venue.
The romantic day that was
Beverley and Ryan's wedding started with stress-free preparations in a hotel near the venue. They did not want to see each other until the ceremony so they got ready in separate rooms. There are so many things to love about their wedding, including the rings with beautiful gems, Beverley's classy red cape with a hood that she wore during the bridal photoshoot, and the horse carriage that transported our bride to the venue.
Beverley walked down the aisle with her all-natural bouquet of white roses and mint green leaves that blended perfectly with the pristine nature surrounding their wedding venue. Our bride's aisle was a cemented path in the middle of a cemetery next to the monastery ruin. The cemetery forms part of an estate amidst the woodlands with hundreds of years of history.
When the bride finally reached the ceremony spot, everyone's attention shifted to her, and her groom who could not take his eyes off Beverley. The meaningful ceremony included a Celtic handfasting tradition, which was the event's highlight.
The wedding photoshoot
After that, the couple went to the most prominent parts of the monastery for their unforgettable photoshoot. They posed under the arched doors, the cloisters, and the tree in the monastery's courtyard. Finally, they walked along the cemetery path onto the horse carriage that took them back to the hotel for a special dinner with their guests.
Just before they joined their loved ones, Beverley and Ryan took the time to walk along the hotel garden and have a pint of Guinness beer each for a pre-celebration with just the two of them. After all, intimate weddings and elopements revolve around the couple, their love for each other, and their unique adventure in the European destination they picked.
