Blue-themed adventure wedding with kids in Kerry
Story
Blue-themed weddings are very special in Ireland. The Irish proverb "Marry in blue, lover be true," is a popular one associating blue with fidelity in Irish weddings. There’s also an Irish wedding tradition that says, "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue."
For Guenièvre and Romaine's special day, the bride's wedding dress was in a beautiful blue color. Not only that, their adorable daughter also wore a blue dress that matched her mom’s!
This destination wedding in Ireland is more than just a wedding. The couple brought their son and daughter to this special celebration to be part of their exchange of vows. They had a very intimate wedding in an extraordinary venue in Ireland at the heart of a national park.
Just like their love for each other, Guenièvre and Romaine’s ceremony location has stood the test of time. It was a centuries-old monastery that many people attempted to destroy, but refused to be brought down by raids and fires. The monastery is now roofless, but it still has a stunning central courtyard, with a large yew tree, and a historic vaulted cloister.
The whole family got ready in a nearby hotel, and with the help of their friends and family who traveled to Ireland with them, Guenièvre and Romaine were able to prepare the kids while they also got dressed for the ceremony. The groom got to the venue first, and he waited for his whole family to arrive. Guenièvre and her two children rode a horse carriage to the venue, which was a magical experience for the kids.
The daughter and son tandem danced together as they entered the ceremony spot. The beautiful bride in blue arrived last, with her father walking her down the aisle. The ceremony was short and sweet, with the kids hugging their parents halfway through the event. The kids were with them the whole time, even up to the photoshoot! The whole family had their photos taken inside the cloisters and beside the enchanting tree in the middle.
This destination wedding in Ireland was all about Guenièvre and Romaine’s family, but there was a short window of time when the couple had the chance to have their photos taken without the kids. They treasured those small moments when it was only the two of them celebrating their love in a beautiful Irish location.
