Story

Unlike most of our couples getting married in Ireland, Marilyn and Adam could not shake the fact that they would leave any of their closest friends and family to the most special occasion of their lives.

So instead of choosing a handful of guests, they flew over twenty of their favorite people from Canada to Ireland to witness their exchange of vows and enjoy an authentic Irish experience with them. The result? A whirlwind micro wedding that began with a solemn church ceremony and ended with a lively party in a pub!

A unique church for a solemn Catholic wedding

Marilyn and Adam have strong ties with the Catholic church, with the bride’s papa being a tenor in church. This is one of the reasons why they picked a religious Catholic ceremony for their small wedding in Ireland.

Ireland had a little surprise for them - a quaint church along the Gougane Barra lake, with a scenic backdrop of rolling hills and woodlands. This lone chapel had the most interesting architecture of tall, black, triangular roofs, unpainted rough bricks, a heavy wooden door, and a small space for intimate ceremonies inside.

The solemn ceremony with Catholic traditions

Though a destination wedding miles away from home seems to be a modern choice for couples, Marlyn and Adam wanted to keep the religious traditions they grew up with. For their Irish destination wedding, they booked a priest to officiate their wedding in a solemn and heartfelt ceremony.

Their families participated in the different parts of the ceremony, including the Gospel reading. The ceremony may be quiet, formal, and solemn, but it was a beautiful one in line with Marilyn and Adam’s wedding dreams.

After their church ceremony, the two would not leave without a proper photoshoot outdoors, showcasing the natural beauty surrounding the chapel. From formal group photos to candid snaps of their guests greeting them, Marilyn and Adam made sure every special moment was captured after the ceremony.

Then they had some time alone with their photographer, as they savored the lush greens and dreamy lake for their couple photos. Every image shouts Emerald Isle!

Taste of the Irish contemporary life in a lovely country house

After the ceremony, the exciting part was just beginning. Marilyn, Adam, and their guests proceeded to the lovely 4-star country house hotel nearby, where they had the taste of Ireland’s old charm with its modern luxury.

The country house is set amidst the quiet village of Ballylickey, where greenery covers 80% of the landscape. They had a warm and intimate dinner, with the couple’s loved ones giving speeches and wishing them well in this new chapter of their lives.

The country house’s chef served no less than superb cuisine using their fresh local produce. The food and ambiance were a perfect combination for an authentic Irish cultural experience.

Lively pub party where everyone danced

Some couples would call it a day after a heartfelt ceremony and a sumptuous dinner reception, but not Marilyn and Adam. They led their wedding guests to a bonus treat that they will never forget for a lifetime.

From the country house, guests headed to a vibrant pub alive with endless singing and dancing that never missed a beat.

What began as a solemn wedding ceremony quickly transformed into a lively celebration where everyone let loose, dancing to the rhythm of upbeat Irish tunes!

Just hours earlier, guests sat quietly in a chapel, but by the night’s end, Marilyn and Adam’s wedding had become an unforgettable party - filled with cheers, dancing, and nonstop fun in one of the most authentically Irish venues in the country.
